Memorial Gestures 4: May 2026 – Present

It is the 4th year of our residency programme Memorial Gestures – we are thrilled to announce the five artists and writers that we are working with this year.

The two artists-in-residence at Holocaust Centre North are Jo Clement and Delilah Sykes. They will also complete a micro-residency with Invisible Flock in Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

Our artist-in-residence at Holocaust Centre North and the University of Huddersfield’s Centre of Archaeology is Sally Wetherall. She will also complete a micro-residency with Invisible Flock in Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

Along with the Memorial Gestures residencies which invite artists to explore Holocaust Centre North Archive and respond to materials they feel have contemporary relevance, this year’s edition of Memorial Gestures also includes two new residency formats. Dayanny So is our a Community Artist-in-residence, working with 6 Million +, and Martyna Puciato is our Cultural Translator-in-residence.

The cohort started their residencies in May and will be working with us for the remainder of the year.

Sign up to our newsletter to follow their research and hear about any Memorial Gestures programming, including upcoming exhibitions, workshops, readings and artist talks.

If you want to know more about our artists’ current practice outside of Memorial Gestures, we will be uploading some promotional materials below.

Delilah Sykes co-organises Found Film Club. She collects, archives, curates, and screens cinefilm that is sourced locally in Leeds. Each screening is accompanied by a different musician who improvises alongside the films.
